The town of Juneau is a cruise ship destination in Alaska. During the summer months when cruise ships ply the waters of the Inside Passage and beyond, an exciting shore excursion option for passengers is a Glacier Heli Walk.
After a bus ride from the cruise ship terminal, passengers are loaded into helicopters for a scenic flight over Juneau, and the glaciers before landing on the Taku Glacier in the Tongass National Forest where they don ski boots and crampons for the tour.
Once suited up with the right footwear and ski poles, a guide takes visitors on a heli walk tour over the icy terrain.
